It is not as powerful or precise as a blaster rifle, but it is faster and can be dual wielded. A Blaster pistol is the main sidearm of a ranged class.
Carth's personal blaster was based on an old Arkanian design, but he has adapted it to incorporate all of the latest modular technology available to the Republic. It was an upgradeable weapon in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Carth's blaster was a blaster pistol that was used and customized by Carth Onasi. Power blast does NOT work with master speed (bug). Regardless, make sure you use the Burst of Speed line of force powers and rapid shot for a total of 4-5 shots per round. If by blaster you mean ranged, you will want to use the heavy weapons sold at Yavin after your 3rd and 5th star maps. If you go that route you might want to stop leveling as a scoundrel after the second defense improvement feat is unlocked, or you may want to maximize the sneak attack, which if used in tandem with stealth might give a starting damage advantage.The best class choices would probably be the Soundrel and the Sentinel, this type of character would require an exceptional defense and those two classes are the best as far as defenses go.Because most blaster weapons are weak you would need to emphasize survivability rather than damage. I have played many (Jedi) characters that started as rogues with 16 dex (improving it at each opportunity) and by the end most enemies couldn't touch me. However, against Malak you should use no more than one buff or he will use Force Breach on you.For the blaster, I think I remember dueling doesn't work on blasters in this game but two weapon fighting helps, so go with two guns or a rifle.You could use the Jedi robes or you could make sure your armor is never constricting your movement (check its max dex bonus). On top of dex and con you would want alot of Wisdom to maximize available force powers, Force Speed at max would be very helpful as that adds extra attacks and defense to the one using it, Force Valor and Armor would also be helpful. If you can be competitive against anything with a lightsaber while using a blaster you could probably defeat Malak, it would be hard and require good use of Force powers but it should be possible.
